JGS1 quartz glass is made from silica-containing materials such as crystals and silicon dioxide. Silicon dioxide melts at high temperatures. Its silica content is much higher than that of ordinary glass. JGS1 quartz glass has excellent optical properties, not only excellent visible light transmittance, but also ultraviolet and infrared light transmittance.
Except for hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid above 300℃, JGS1 quartz glass is an excellent acid-resistant material. At high temperatures, it can resist corrosion from sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, aqua regia, neutral salts, carbon, and sulfur. Its chemical stability is 30 times that of acid-resistant ceramics and 150 times that of nickel-chromium alloys and ceramics. It is high-temperature resistant, thermal shock resistant, and has a particularly low thermal expansion coefficient.
JGS1 quartz glass has excellent electrical properties. At room temperature, its electrical resistance is 10 times that of ordinary glass, the dielectric loss is very small at all frequencies, and the dielectric strength is high.
JGS1 quartz glass can also resist cosmic radiation and is not affected by nuclear fission products.
JGS1 quartz glass is mainly used in the fields of electro-optical sources, semiconductors, and new optical technologies.
New light sources: high-pressure mercury lamps, long-arc xenon lamps, iodine tungsten lamps, infrared lamps, and germicidal lamps, etc.
Semiconductors: It is an indispensable material in the production of semiconductor materials and devices, such as crucibles for growing germanium silicon single crystals, boat-shaped furnace core tubes, and bell jars.
In new technology fields: Utilizing its excellent acoustic, optical, and electrical properties in radar, infrared tracking and direction finding, infrared photography, communication, spectrographs and spectrophotometer prisms, lenses, large astronomical telescope reflection windows, high-temperature operation windows, reactors and radioactive devices to produce ultrasonic delay lines; nose cones, nozzles, and antenna covers for rockets and missiles; radio insulation parts, radiation, thermal balance, vacuum adsorption devices, casting, etc., for artificial satellites.
JGS1 quartz glass is also used in the chemical industry, metallurgy, electrical engineering, and scientific research.
In chemical engineering: It can be used as a device for combustion, cooling, and ventilation of high-temperature acid gases, evaporation, cooling, and absorption of acidic solutions, storage devices, preparation of distilled water, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid, etc., physical and chemical experimental supplies. In high-temperature operations, it can be used as optical glass, crucibles for phosphors, furnace core tubes for electric furnaces, and gas radiators. In optics, JGS1 quartz glass and JGS1 quartz glass wool can be used as rocket nozzles, heat shields, and observation windows for spacecraft, etc. In short, with the development of modern science and technology, JGS1 quartz glass has been more widely used in various fields.
JGS1 quartz glass is an excellent acid-resistant material. Its chemical stability is 30 times that of acid-resistant ceramics and 150 times that of nickel-chromium alloys and ceramics. Its advantages in high-temperature and concentrated acid applications are particularly significant. Except for hydrofluoric acid and phosphoric acid above 300℃, it is not corroded by other acids, especially sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, and aqua regia at high temperatures.
